About Us
Our Mission Statement
Club Green is committed to helping promote sustainability and "green" living within the Staples High School and Westport community while improving the local environment and working to make a difference within the community.
History
Club Green is an environmental club founded at Staples High School in Westport, Connecticut in 2005 by students who wanted to help promote sustainability in the community with the help of their AP Environmental Science teacher Mike Aitkenhead. Throughout the years, Club Green has attracted hundreds of environmentally active students who have helped to promote sustainability within the Staples High School and Westport community. Club Green has partnered with the Neighbor to Neighbor Home Energy Challenge and Solarize Westport to encourage sustainable living in Westport. Club Green mot famously has put on an environmental fair each spring called EcoFest for the past several years to promote "green" businesses and organizations within the community. Club Green also has the honor to be the only organization in town to hold two seats on Westport Green Task Force to directly contribute to promoting sustainability in Westport. In 2009, Club Green was the runner-up for the CL&P Live Green, Win Green statewide competition. Club Green continues to help the environment and the community with local events, initiatives, and programs.
